General Information

Organizers

Institute of Physics, Belgrade (Serbia), Faculty of Mathematics, Belgrade (Serbia), the Ludwig-Maximillians-University, Munich (Germany), the Max-Planck-Institute of Physics, Munich (Germany), are organizing the IV Summer School in Modern Mathematical Physics. The School will be held 3 - 14 September 2006, Belgrade, Serbia. (September 3 is arrival and September 14 is departure day.) Information about the previous schools can be found here.

Topics

School's programme is mainly oriented towards some recent developments in Quantum Field Theory, Superstring/M-Theory, Gravity, Cosmology and Related Mathematical Problems. The topics are:

  • Nonpertubative Methods in Field and String Theories
  • Noncommutative Models and Noncommutative Geometry
  • Exact Integrable Models
  • Conformal and Topological Field Theory
  • Supersymmetry, Supergravity and String/M-theory
  • String Field Theory
  • Classical and Quantum Gravity
  • Branes and Braneworlds
  • Cosmology and Dark Energy
  • p-Adic and Adelic Models

Lecturers will give 2-4 lectures, starting from an introductory level which should be gradually advanced. At least one pedagogical course is planned. A number of short workshop reports on the current research will be also possible, so a part of this meeting will be organized as a workshop. The Proceedings of the previous schools are published and we plan also to publish the Proceedings of this one.

Participants

The number of participants is expected to be about 80. They are usually from the region and Europe. The organizers wish to encourage the active participation of young researchers from former Yugoslavia, as well as from South-Eastern and Central-Eastern European countries. The organizers will attempt to cover their living and travel expenses as much as possible. Financial support for other participants is also possible. Participants who need financial support should fill in registration form as soon as possible.

Objectives of this School also are: 1) contribution to the cooperation between scientists from the countries of the former Yugoslavia and building their working contacts with scientists from other European countries and from the rest of the world, 2) contribution to the progress of modern physics and mathematics in Serbia as well as in the region, and 3) to improve situation to maintain gifted young researchers from the region to stay in their home countries.

Participation Fee

The conference fee is 100 Euro, and 50 Euro for students and accompanying persons. The hotel price for participants is approximately 20 to 25 Euro per day (meals included).
